PROCUREMENT / FIELD GUIDE

Evaluating Suppliers Before You Commit

Questions to ask about supplier identity, capability, quality systems and commercial terms before placing an order.

Verify who you are working with

Review business registration information, contact channels, factory details and relevant history. Documentation alone is not a guarantee; use independent checks where the risk justifies them.

Assess production suitability

Ask about equipment, production capacity, minimum order quantities, typical lead times and previous experience with comparable products.

Compare like for like

Obtain quotations with consistent specifications, inclusions, delivery terms and currency. Lower unit price can be misleading if tooling, inspection, packaging or freight are excluded.

Agree verification milestones

Discuss samples, pre-production approvals, inspection arrangements, payment stages and escalation contacts before finalising the purchase.
