What the latest Indian merchandise data actually proves
India reported merchandise exports of approximately US$441.8 billion in FY 2025–26, according to the Ministry of Commerce's July 2026 release. Its Trade Intelligence and Analytics portal identifies the United States, United Arab Emirates, China, Netherlands and United Kingdom as major export destinations. These are broad, multi-product market relationships—not proof that every product sells strongly in each country. Before selecting a particular product and market, filter the official data to the relevant HS category and trading partner, and distinguish full-year totals from partial-year 2026 figures.
Match the buyer's specification to a defensible Indian supply category
The official portal highlights engineering goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals and petroleum products among India's important export categories. For a sourcing company, practical starting points may include engineered components, textiles, homeware and selected food products, but each opportunity needs its own capability test. Ask whether the manufacturer produces the item itself, has traceable material procurement, can repeat the quality standard, and holds evidence relevant to the buyer's market. For pharmaceutical or regulated goods, the buyer and manufacturer must obtain expert compliance review before procurement.
Use destination markets as a research sequence—not a promise of orders
A US purchasing team may prioritise documented specifications and origin declarations; a UAE buyer may also consider regional redistribution; a UK importer may have its own labelling and customs obligations. Start with a single product and write down likely end buyers, local competitors, distributor channels, expected order frequency and import restrictions. Then compare this hypothesis against actual destination import data and enquiries. Trade totals by themselves do not establish purchasing intent or supplier availability.
Build a buyer-ready request for quotations
For each manufacturer, provide a common RFQ package: exact SKU, drawings or reference samples, material grade, measurable tolerances, expected quantity, destination port, packaging, shipping term and sample acceptance rules. Request separated prices for product, tooling, inspection and export packaging, together with lead-time assumptions. A landed-cost worksheet should include freight, insurance, duties, taxes, local delivery and rejected-goods risk. This prevents choosing an apparently cheap quotation that is not commercially comparable.
A practical first-quarter content and sales test
Choose five product-country pairs supported by product-level data. Publish one original guide per pair with a real buyer checklist, sample specification table, compliance questions and citations, then connect it to the relevant TAVOXE product page and quote form. Monitor verified enquiries, organic impressions, geographic clicks and supplier responses. Revise the guide when sourcing questions emerge; do not publish unsupported search-volume or demand rankings merely because a keyword looks attractive.
Information to verify before committing capital
Confirm the correct HS code, destination tariff and preferential origin rules, export controls, technical standards, labelling, traceability and documentary responsibilities with a qualified party. Check that the product's quoted origin is truthful and that test reports apply to the exact model being sold. This is especially important when sourcing from multiple factories or consolidating shipment lines. TAVOXE can help structure the sourcing request but cannot replace legal, customs or conformity specialists.
This guide provides general business information and does not replace legal, inspection or customs advice for a particular transaction.
